I'm a student and practitioner of the contemporary Hellenistic revival which had its genesis at Project Hindsight in 1993. My primary teacher in both astrology and astrological magic is Austin Coppock. My experience with and proficiency in astrological magic has been greatly expedited by the works and teaching of Kaitlin Coppock, whose labors have democratized access to celestial powers in a way that is historically unprecedented.

It’s a privilege and a boon to live in a time when the occult spheres shine so brightly with a plentitude of human stars. Beyond my main astrological teachers, my thinking and practice are shaped by:

Rose Auroras- Scrying and folk-magic

Dr. Alexander Cummins- Early modern occultism, folk necromancy, and geomancy

Camelia Elias and Bent Sorenson- Cartomancy

Bayo Akomolafe-post-activism, onto-fugitivity, and making sanctuary

Although I have not formally trained with them, Sasha Ravitch, J.M. Hamade, Sfinga and B.Key have been vital influences in my path.

technical considerations

zodiac, techniques, planets

Sky, planets, stars: I use the tropical zodiac and whole sign houses. I primarily focus on the 7 traditional planets, fixed stars, and lots in my readings. I will keep track of the outer planets and include them in my interpretations in particular circumstances. I’m not well versed in asteroids or centaurs.

Techniques: I layer multiple timing techniques to evaluate the currents arcing through this moment (and the previous one, and the next). Depending on the question at hand and the context, this typically includes solar returns, annual profections, planetary decades and zodiacal releasing. Additionally, I compare this to activations by parantellonta with fixed stars.

Remediation: I give considered, low-risk magical and mundane strategies to help support your well-being and ability to navigate difficult life circumstances as they present themselves astrologically, as well as amplify the impact of your innate gifts and maximize the influence of auspicious times. Often, this will include suggestions from Sphere and Sundry, the astro-magical atelier of Kaitlin Coppock. Using my referral link will grant us both a $10 coupon if you’re so inclined.

The Vedic astrology lineage has a far more nuanced approach to remedies that has been optimized over hundreds of years. For certain chart configurations or a higher degree of long-term support, I highly recommend the services of my friends and colleagues Dira Osland or Micki Pellerano who have also studied with both Austin and Freedom.

Birth time accuracy and access

The entire architecture of your chart can shift with even a 2 or 3 minute difference in birth time. If your birth time is rounded or uncertain, we may need to spend some time ensuring that your given birth time makes sense. I typically do this by looking at how various techniques describe important periods of your life so it can be helpful to look at the dates of major events ahead of our session. Please email me prior to booking if you don’t have a birth time—I have a few tricks up my sleeve but will need to discuss expectations and how I can best meet your needs.

My best work as an astrologer occurs in collaborative dialogue. I want you to come to our session with questions, even if that’s “what is a good question to ask an astrologer?” and let me know if there are any topics or life events you don’t want to talk about. Your feedback—before, during, and after our session—is also a vital part of my practice: People are endlessly complex and astrology, by design, must be able to describe many levels of reality at once. Some of the techniques I use have only been recently revived after centuries of disuse. Your reflections on our time together will not only sharpen the accuracy of your reading but will refine my skills and contribute to the restoration of the field as a whole.

I aspire to introduce you to your place within the celestial ecosystem and help you identify sources of dignity, agency, and healing in a world which violently asserts our isolation and forces us into impossible compromises. If something I say doesn’t fit your experience I’d like to know—it may be mititgated by a nuance I haven’t noticed or a reflection of a future that has not quite come to pass. I’ll always offer to record our session so that you can return to our dialogue and re-evaluate what we discovered as many times as you’d like.

Scope of Practice: Astrological sight vs. mundane boundaries

Astrology is and has been used to address concrete problems directly and accurately throughout time and across the world, but these results are midwifed by many hands. Astrology can help describe the wounds in our psyches, maladies of the body, and may illuminate the modalities best suited for their address. Astrology is not an inherently therapeutic endeavor and cannot replace clinical care from a mental health provider, medical professional, and/or other healers. Astrology can point out potential legal troubles and how the odds might be stacked in relation to your interests. Astrology cannot provide specific advice congruent with the legal system of your specific jurisdiction. Astrologers, like lawyers, are nerds you can hire to increase your advantage in a situation. Astrologers, unlike lawyers, cannot represent you in a court of law. Astrology can describe our spiritual proclivities, unseen allies who travel with us, and problems with occult sources. Astrology cannot prescribe the appropriate course to take within the scope of a specific spiritual or religious tradition. When in doubt, consult the counsel of other experts in your life and honor your own discernment (and/or preferred alternate forms of divination!)
